Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 1:06PM With the continued growth of our meet, the Executive Loucks Games Committee has given meet director Fred Singleton permission to place a limit on some of the events. Thus, as we started in 2010, the 800 Meters, 1600 Meters and 3200 Meters will have limits placed on the number of participants.
So, starting in 2010 there were limits placed on the number of athletes accepted - and those athletes must have had a prior performance that will place them on our list of accepted athletes.
The limits will be:
800 Meters - 60 athletes (roughly 5 heats of 12)
1600 Meters - 45 athletes (roughly 3 heats of 15)
3200 Meters - 30 athletes (roughly 2 heats of 15).
Below is a list of the 2010 times run by the athletes.
800 Meters: Women - 60th place (only 43 actually participated - 43rd place was 2:33.80)
Men - 60th place (only 54 competed - 53rd place was 2:08.23 - 54th was disqualified)
1600 Meters: Women- 45th place (only 31 competed - 26th place 5:29.12 - 31st was 5:47.69
Men- 45th place (only 39 competed - 34th was 4:39.44 - 39th 5:15.04)
3200 Meters: Women - 30th place (only 23 competed - 22nd place was 11:53.91 - 23rd was 12:03.86)
Men - 30th place (only 27 competed - 26th place was10:18.48 - 27th was 10:41.44 )
Please enter athletes who are capable of reaching times like that.
We will accept times from
1. Indoors 2010-2011
2. Outdoors 2011
3. Loucks 2010
Here is the procedure:
1. Enter athletes on Directathletics (remember - no estimated performances in the 800, 1600 or 3200 meters - actual times only). Remember to list the meet at which the performance was reached.
2. Our seeding committee will meet on Monday May 9th, We will look at results from all listed meets - verifying performances.
3. Sometime on Tuesday May 10th a list of accepted athletes will be posted on our website (remember, even if your athlete has defeated a listed athlete 4 out of 5 times, but on that 5th time the listed runner had a great race - he or she will be listed above your athlete - it's all about time!
4. On the day of the meet all athletes must be checked in at least one hour prior to the starting time.
5. A Provisional Starter list will also be listed on our website. As athletes scratch, these athletes could move up to the become participants. Thus, in the 3200 meters if 4 of the top 30 athletes scratch, ranked runners 31-34 would participate. Have your athletes ready.
To help get more of your athletes into the meet, we have increased the number of accepted teams on Thursday's Open DMR and Frosh/Soph DMR to 2 per school. We have also added a Thursday Frosh/Soph 4 X 400.
Sprint races were not immune to coaches ignoring the standards. Please enter those athletes who you feel are capable of making the posted standards.
Field events will be limited too. In the jumps and throws, each athlete will receive one legal attempt. Any following attempt which does not meet the standard will not be measured. Again, we ask you to enter athletes capable of meeting the standards.
